Updates for SRC 2025!

                Captains’ Newsletter #1

January 2025

The Board of Directors have been busy planning for the 2025 season. There are several changes that we believe will increase the enjoyment of participating in the SRC while maintaining the competitiveness and camaraderie to which we all look forward.

Firstly, as previously communicated, the costs associated with the underwriting of the playoffs and championship have increased dramatically. We have increased match administrative fees to $640 per team. This represents a $5 increase per player per event. This amount should be sent to our new treasurer via E-transfer John Trimble at trimblewjohn@gmail.com prior to or on the day the matches are played.

The structure of the SRC Board has changed with the addition of 4 directors to offset the resignation of 2. The website reflects those changes. Additonal 2025 changes:

  • Divisions will consist of 5 teams but still play 4 matches. A 5-team division eliminates the super seniors playing the same team twice (as it was in a 4-team division).
  • There will be Six divisions in the East, Georgian, Southwest and Niagara Regions. The top 2 teams in each division will progress to the regional playoff – 12 teams in each playoff. This will reduce the tee time conflicts with the host clubs as well as shortening the 6-hour rounds. The top 2 teams in each regional playoff will advance to the Championship.
  • There will be Eight divisions in the Central Region and there will be a playoff which will have 16 teams – top 2 teams from each division. The top 3 teams from this playoff will advance to the Championship.
  • The divisional structure will be posted before the end of January.
  • The point system for matches will reflect the Ryder Cup scoring with 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. That will mean 8 points maximum for a team per session.
  • All game formats (Best Ball, Chapman, Scramble, Aggregate, Shamble) are available for each home match. No restriction.
  • Locations for the playoffs are as follows:
    • Central at Diamondback August 6
    • East at Greyhawk August 12
    • Georgian at Midland August 18
    • Southwest at St. Thomas August 25
    • Niagara at Niagara National August 26
  • Championship will be held at Grandview September 29-30

We have a few requirements from you, the captains, to ensure a smooth and successful season:

  • Forward this note to the new captain (if you are no longer in that role) and forward the contact information for him to the SRC.
  • Schedule your home match date, as soon as possible once the divisional structure is posted, with consideration for the playoff date in your region.
  • Ensure your team members have a registered Index with Golf Canada – this will be a requirement for 2026.
  • Team listings of S1, S2 and S3 must reflect player capability
  • Set your team preferences on the website

We are delighted with the sponsorship support we have garnered for this season that will assist in subsidizing the expenses for the Playoffs and Championship. Participants will receive advertorials on behalf of the major sponsors to solicit support for their products or services and we encourage patronage where applicable. The donations and products supplied are critical to the success of the SRC and your enjoyment at the yearend events.

 On behalf of the Board,

   Tom Nederpel,
President SRC1999
